 September 17, 2007:

Just got the Parts and Ads page updated with new ads.  The family has insisted on a lot of time off from this work lately.

I'll be splitting my time for now, between moving the Open Library Project over to The AMC Heritage Forum, and wringing a blog entry out of my keyboard somehow...

 September 10, 2007:

I've been very busy lately, moving the Open Library Project and the Rambler TimeLine into the Archive System at The AMC Heritage Forum.

Also, my son and I have been playing around with the fuel system on his 1967 Rambler American 440 Hardtop V8.

Been using Molly Blue for the "Staff Car" on that job, and she hauled the new stainless steel fuel line home from Kennedy American(see the Parts page).

The fuel line was in a huge box, and wouldn't fit inside the Gremlin, so we lashed it to the luggage rack.

I always thought people stared at Molly Blue a lot in traffic anyway, but nothing like the attention gotten by a Gremlin with a huge long box on top of it.

 August 20, 2007:

The Old Car Manual Project has been focusing on Route 66 Rambler somewhat lately , featuring six different items from our own Open Library Project on their front page, one of which is a link to another 9 ads and postcards from the Open Library Project, here at Route 66 Rambler.

For over a year before that, TOCMP carried a high-resolution version of our 1969 American Motors Family Album on the front page.  A link to that catalog can still be found at their site.

And that's not all.  Route 66 Rambler rated a link on TOCMP's excellent listing of references and resources, as well as a MENTION IN THEIR NEW BLOG, a really cool addition to their site.

I also noticed that they have started to run Gallery 2 image hosting software, which is what powers our own image host, RustBucket.

This is really a class act, "old iron online".
Thanks for the appreciation, guys!

Route 66 Rambler has also been placed alongside The AMC Heritage Forum as a resource for the study of AMC, by AutoPendium.com, a huge automobile social network based in the UK, with blogs, 'pedias, galleries, videos, etc.

Welcome to Route 66 Rambler, AutoPendium visitors!

 July 31, 2007:

The AMC Heritage Forum
has now expanded
as a project, to include an image host(RustBucket) and an archive system, to combine the Rambler TimeLine and its components, along with the Open Library Project, into the Forum/Gallery structure, to create a comprehensive resource over the years.

Membership is now up to 77 members, ranging from age 16 to 74.

 July 4, 2007:

I'll tone down the colors somewhat from here on, and I'll streamline the menus...

The menu system was never supposed to be so big.  I'll be streamlining and cutting down the menu system.

The AMC Heritage Forum is now up to 65 members, and still going right along.  The Route 66 Rambler Report Blog should be receiving a new post at any time.

 June 14, 2007:

The AMC Heritage Forum:

an update on Forum progress:
We are up to 52 Members now, with quite a few guests visiting every day.  Membership has gone world-wide, baby, with Members checking in from every continent except Antarctica.

 June 1, 2007:

If you'd like to see more of this kind of Rambler Heritage, and discuss it with others, I've set aside space and tech support for a message forum.  It's called The AMC Heritage Forum.  It's already got 24 Members, and lots of discussion and information about The AMC Heritage.  You're late, man, better get over there...

 May 23, 2007:

This page will remain open for now,  Due to the responses I have received concerning traffic at this site from family, friends, and visitors to the site.

 May 20, 2007:

I am probably going to shut down this site in its present form.  One or two people a day is just a waste of my time.  I educate more people than that about AMC every day, just by driving my Gremlin in traffic.

If you want this site to stay up, let me know.  Better yet, let someone else know, and get people coming here.  Don't let that hit counter fool you. They are famous for lying.  I am pretty sure only about 20 people have ever even seen this page, like over and over.

 May 11, 2007:

Well, it took a week, but I created a web page to show some pictures of the Annual Route 66 Fun Run.

There were hundreds of cars of every kind there...

Surprisingly, Molly Blue was one of the most popular cars at this rally, with some folks actually running out into the street to offer their bodies as a sacrifice, just to be near to her.

 May 1, 2007:

Not much around here shows it, but I have been working hard on the back end of the web empire that is Route 66 Rambler.  Hey, somebody wake that guy up over there...

I am slaving away over the smoldering website forge, with a Big Freaking Hammer, working on the new web pages to re-design the
Open Library Project.

The Links page has now been upgraded to a Project as well.  Once operational, it will become The Whole AMC Web Catalog, or
AMC WebCat.

Make, Model, Year is also being hammered out, with relish and fries.

I've got my main guy,
B. F. Hammer, pounding away on... ahh, never mind.

I know the MMY is what a lot of you are REALLY wanting to see when you come here.  Please be patient a while longer.

These two Projects are much too big and complex to play around with, so the pages don't go in, until the system is ready.

The WebCat ideas
, though, I might play around with some.

I have also added a "Remote Roving Molly Cam" feature to the Route 66 Rambler Report

 April 1, 2007:

Yes, you are correct.

I have done absolutely  nothing at all that I said I would do in the month of March.

My family is getting my time and attention at the moment...
It has been my experience that CAR COMPANIES age at a slower rate than grandchildren do...

If this situation bothers anyone as much as my e-mail inbox suggests, please be REASSURED that a full refund is in the mail...

 March 1, 2007:

I've been wandering around, expanding the scope of my study again, instead of filling in what I already have done on the structure of the site...  one thing I have done is commercialized the Parts page.

This is part of doing anything on the Internet now.  Otherwise I have to get Jerry Lewis in here to beg up some dough.  And nobody wants that.

In March I plan to catch up some on the blogs, links, and MMY stuff. Along the way I will make small changes where I feel like it...

 February 17, 2007:

With President's Day in February, I have dug up a few Presidential tidbits...

 February 8, 2007:

IJust fixed the 1955 AMCRambler Catalog on Page 3 of the Open Library Project.  Also added a 1967 Rebel/American brochure to Page 3.

 February 1, 2007:

I have scanned in a few various Rambler items scattered around the February 1963 Motor Trend Magazine.

 January 23, 2007:

I am back to live editing on the site now. I just installed some new database management software on the server.  It is now using a relational system, so it will be easier to track relationships between various events, people, vehicles, companies, etc.

This will also provide a way to re-structure the
TimeLine and the Open Library Project, so they are more understandable and easier to navigate. It won't happen for a while yet, but it's good to be ready.

 January 18, 2007:

I am currently performing database maintenance and backup, creating pages, and uploading files on the back end of the site.  So things will remain static on this site for a few days....

 January 6, 2007:

Public pressure has finally persuaded me to begin work on the Make, Model, Year page.  At this stage, I have added a number of mug shots for AMC from 1954-1983, and a number of special editions, prototypes, and Jeeps.  For the sake of speed, at the moment these pictures are of low quality, but will eventually evolve into  web pages for the models, starting with the Gremlin.

On the first of Jan, we set off on the Molly Blue Two-Lane New Year Tour, which took us to Prescott, AZ again.  Here's a little sneak peek at what we saw. More will be posted to the Route 66 Rambler Report shortly...

 December 4, 2006:

I've put some things on the E. R. Thomas-Detroit page, a few pictures and links.

On this page I'm featuring an ad for Rambler from 1905 boasting of the ability of  one-armed customers to operate their Ramblers.  This is only to be expected, as it is also the perfect car for children.

The Marlin/Tarpon development photos which were obtained in November 2006 have been moved to the "American Motors Corporation" page for 1954-1987, located in the TimeLine.

 November 23, 2006:

We went to two different concerts in the last month.  ...Molly Blue  was a huge hit with the crowd AND the parking crew at both shows....not to mention the car show that we happened upon and pulled in to.  Around a dozen people left the show area to go out to the parking lot and have a look at the curious little Gremlin out there.

Acquired treasures of late include two new 1960
sales brochures, and a collection of 12 Nash ads from 1933 through 1954.  As soon as I tame the raging TimeLine, these goodies will be added to the Open Library Project.

Kenosha West, the parts page, has been added to the mix, complete with links and classified ads for cars, parts, and literature.  This will be expanded over time.

 October 11, 2006

I re-worked the Home page a little bit.  I wanted the TimeLine and Library to be accessible at all times.  I am now trying to fill the TimeLine data skeleton out a bit, and have added a Make, Model, Year skeleton that also waits to be filled.

 October 7, 2006:

Molly Blue recently completed a tour counting out at over 650 miles in 3 days.  Total altitude change was over 20,000 feet.  She ran like a champ and never even got hot.

Recently acquired was a shipment of 15 sales brochures ranging from 1955 to 1976.  These items will be added to the Open Library Project as time permits.

Another recent acquisition was the "American Motors Performance Engine Book", edited by Dick Datson.  Lots of tips on all series of AMC engines...

 September 19, 2006:

The Route 66 Rambler "Open Library Project"  is now underway.  Over 30 sales brochures, more than 20 ads, and various magazine articles and other items are now available for your perusal.

 September 14, 2006:

Route 66 Rambler is now  online.  Lots of work to be done yet...
